What is KEVLARŪ?< /b>

KEVLARŪ is the trade name for Aramide (Aromatic Polyamide) made by DuPont. It is a space-age material designed HIGH STRESS applications.

KEVLARŪ, with its superior resistance to heat and wear, has strength far greater than any other reinforcing material.  It has been used for bullet-proof vests and composite body parts for the racing and aerospace industries.

This material has been used in industrial applications for fifteen years - and with outstanding results.  Because of demanding industrial needs, a friction material that would last, as well as not wear-out the mating surface was needed.

KEVLARŪ, with its resistance to high temperatures, coupled with an extremely low wear rate on opposing surfaces, has made it the friction material of choice.

The Properties of KEVLARŪ 

KEVLARŪ is one of the most important manmade fibers ever developed. Because of its unique combination of properties, KEVLARŪ is used today in a wide variety of industrial applications. KEVLARŪ para-aramid fiber possesses a remarkable combination of properties that has led to its adoption in a variety of end-uses since its commercial introduction in the early 1970's.

Fibers of KEVLARŪ consist of long molecular chains produced from poly-paraphenylene terephtharamide. The chains are highly oriented with strong interchain bonding, which result in a unique combination of properties.

The KEVLARŪ used in our garments is a soft knitted non-abrasive material and is comfortable against the skin. The fabric is unique in construction. It offers breathability and flexibility. The material itself is designed to dissipate heat quickly and distribute air evenly throughout the fibers.
